A Global Medical Congress in a Cutting-Edge Setting: The 16th International Gastric Cancer Congress

Exploring Innovations at the 16th International Gastric Cancer Congress in Amsterdam
The vibrant city of Amsterdam recently played host to the 16th International Gastric Cancer Congress (IGCC), organized by the International Gastric Cancer Association (IGCA) in partnership with Congress Care. Due to certain challenges; the venue changed from the Maritim Hotel to the magnificent Theater Amsterdam. This congress was a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in the medical field. Over four seamless days, experts from around the world gathered to share insights, discuss advancements, and forge new pathways in gastric cancer research and treatment.
The significance of this event lies not only in its global reach but also in its multidisciplinary approach. With participants ranging from surgeons and oncologists to nutritionists and medical researchers, the congress fostered an environment where diverse perspectives could converge. The collaborative spirit was evident throughout the congress, as attendees engaged in dynamic discussions and workshops aimed at improving patient outcomes.
One of the standout features of the 16th International Gastric Cancer Conference (IGCC) was its exceptional choice of venues. The main congress took place in Theater Amsterdam, renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and striking architectural design, adding a touch of elegance to the proceedings. The venue’s cutting-edge audiovisual capabilities are brought to life in collaboration with partners like the technicians of the theater Amsterdam, Slidecrew and Kingcanary. Elevated the presentation of complex medical data, making it both accessible and engaging for all attendees. The seamless integration of technology and aesthetics created an atmosphere that was both inspiring and conducive to learning.
We are incredibly proud of what we accomplished as a team
Over four dynamic days, the congress unfolded with precision and energy—what an edition it was: four days of full-throttle impact! With over 950 registrations, 987 e-posters, and 57 different nationalities to communicate with, the event was a true global effort. Behind this success stood a dedicated team from Congress Care: Pepijn Klerkx, Britt Verhagen, Linda van Zantvoort - Palmen and myself, supported by a strong collaboration with IGCA president Henk Hartgrink, the congress committee including Suzanne Gisbertz and Johanna van Sandick and numerous stakeholders.
Pop-up domes
Our contributions spanned speakers’ management for over 120 experts, a memorable speakers' dinner, the coordination of pop-up domes for parallel sessions (thanks to QuickSpace), and flawless logistics and hospitality via Target Hospitality and others. The congress kicked off with a spectacular opening, featured engaging panel sessions, and culminated in a boat tour through Amsterdam followed by a festive evening at StrandZuid with over 250 guests.
From REM Amsterdam for the board meetings, Club ACE for the welcome reception, to Theater Amsterdam for the main congress—the 16th IGCC was the result of hard work, precious planning and powerful collaboration.
Succes
The success of the 16th International Gastric Cancer Congress can be attributed not only to the quality of its content but also to the sense of community it fostered among attendees. Networking events and informal gatherings provided ample opportunities for professionals to connect, share experiences, and explore potential collaborations. This sense was felt throughout the congress and will undoubtedly lead to lasting partnerships and innovations in the field of gastric cancer research.
In conclusion, the 16th International Gastric Cancer Congress was a remarkable event that highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing medical science. By bringing together experts from various fields in a unique and inspiring setting, the congress not only showcased the latest advancements in gastric cancer research but also set the stage for future breakthroughs.
